Thinking about a Water Filtration System?

Unsure what type to invest in? The following is a simple guide to the different types of water filtration systems and our top choice for best customer satisfaction.

There are several types of water filtration systems, but they all fall into the following five basic categories:

  1. Activated Carbon Filter Water Filtration Systems

Carbon filters or media work by attracting and absorbing particles so they are extracted from the water. Reduces chlorine and contaminants, eliminating odors and improving taste so you get clean, pure, fresh water every time.

  1. Reverse Osmosis

Using a process called reverse osmosis, water particles are forced through the semi-permeable membrane so that the contaminants are removed.

  1. Alkaline/Water Ionizers

Water is passed over electrically charged plates that separates the water into two streams – one which is alkaline and the other acidic. The acidic water is disposed of, and the alkaline water is used in the house. This is usually used for hard water.

  1. UV Filters

Ultraviolet radiation is used to destroy various bacteria that can be damaging to your health.

  1. Infrared Filters

Infrared water filters use heat and light to negatively charge the water. It softens that water while purifying it.

During the first step, the 5-micron pre-filter system removes sand, silt, sediment and debris. During the second and third steps, the filtration system filters chlorine, pesticides, herbicides and other similar contaminants. (Chlorine byproducts are potential carcinogens and believed to also be responsible for immune system and kidney issues.) At last, in the final step, a copper-zinc reduction oxidation media eliminates or reduces bacteria and algae in your water supply.
