9 Books for Kids

Now through April 12th, donate new and gently used children's books at the E.R. Services office in Mint Hill. We'll make sure your donation reaches children in underserved populations, giving the gift of literacy to Charlotte-area children.

What is 9 Books for Kids?

9 Books for Kids Charlotte Book Drive9 Books for Kids is part of the 9 Family Focus; the objective of 9 Books for Kids is to provide parents, children and the community with resources to improve student learning and achievement across the Carolinas.

Early literacy affects everything from performance in school to ease of securing a job and long term health and wealth.  In partnership, 9 Books for Kids and Charlotte Mecklenburg Library will ask for donations of new and gently used children and teen books which will be given to local area children.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is storing, sorting and distributing all the collected books, which will be given to area children and teens through Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Outreach Services without the need to check out and return the book.

How Can You Help?

Charlotte book donation volunteer opportunityCharlotte Mecklenburg Library and Channel 9 is asking the community to donate new or gently used books for children and teens at all Charlotte Mecklenburg Library locations. Additionally, three community business partners have chosen to collect books at their Mecklenburg county locations: Showmars, Ashley HomeStore and E.R. Services. This campaign would not be as successful without the grassroots community members who collect donations at their places of business, worship or through civic organizations. All donation location addresses and information are located on WSOC-TV 9 Books for Kids website at 9booksforkids.com.

This campaign also relies on the generous support of our community. If your organization or business would like to get involved or help with any WSOC-TV community campaign, please email your inquiry to Kevin Campbell, Community Affairs Manager, WSOC-TV/WAXN-TV at kevin.campbell@wsoctv.com.
